Hello,
This is my first posting on the forum. I have had an interest in WW1 since an early age. My Grandfather was 202593 A.Sgt Albert Townsend, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and although I never knew him, his war service fired my interest. I have a number of WW1 ancestors, including GS/12453 Pte. Maurice Lake, 5th Lancers, who died on 24th May 1915, and lies in Ypres Town Cemetery Extension. I am interested in Militaria from the period, and I have a special interest in the Highland Regiments, especially the Seaforths.
I am also a member of the TA, with the 7th Batt. The Royal Regiment of Scotland. Two years ago I had the priviledge of being present at the unveiling of the Scottish Monument on the Frezenberg Ridge as a member of the Honour Guard in No.1 Dress Uniform. For me with my interest, it was a really special occasion.
I am also a member of the Western Front Association.
Cheers
Owain. |

Hi Owain,
I'm pleased to see a fellow Scot on the forum.
And I was also at the unveiling - it really was a very special day. _________________ There must be a place under the sun where hearts of olden glory grow young ...
